LOWELL, Mass., and WESTON, Fla. | A new report on holiday season retail trends from UKG finds store traffic and shopper demand are up year over year, and almost all retailers (96%) — up from just 40% in 2022 — have plans to increase headcount in stores for the 2023 holiday shopping season. Seasonal hiring goals could be difficult to hit, however, as turnover continues to be a challenge and competition for talent remains strong, potentially putting the customer experience on the line.

LOWELL, Mass. | From June 1-28, the total volume of shifts worked grew 5.9%, including 2.4% from June 22-28, continuing a slow but steady economic rally that began the week ending April 12, when U.S. shift work hit “the bottom.”

LOWELL, Mass. | While 53% of the shifts lost during the COVID-19 pandemic have now been recovered, the Kronos Incorporated U.S. Workforce Activity Report for June 15-21, 2020 shows weekly growth in shift work, which averaged 3.17% weekly since the week ending April 12 (excluding the week of Memorial Day) is now averaging just 1.65% from June 1-21. The week ending April 12 marked “the bottom” of employee shift work volume during the pandemic.
