We’re taking a closer look at our labor index data, including employee shift work, from over 3.8 million employees across 35,000 U.S. businesses. Each month we compile a Workforce Activity Report to better understand the rapidly evolving employment outlook to help business leaders, labor economists, and other groups make better-informed decisions to improve the job market.

UKG Workforce Activity Report - July 2022
The total number of shifts worked by people at U.S. businesses decreased 0.6% in July 2022, an early indicator that July jobs growth will fall slightly behind June’s benchmark. While the situation remains highly dynamic, there have been slight declines in workforce activity in four of the last five months, continuing to position the labor market on a path for a soft landing.
