UKG Ready Report Rundown: The Case of The Missing Punch
Breaking news – we’re back with another edition of the UKG Ready Report Rundown! If this is your first time joining us, the report rundown is a quarterly blog that highlights key reports admins should take advantage of. Each quarter has a different theme of reports. This quarter our topic revolves around timesheets and pay prep. As an admin it’s important to understand your workforce and to stay on top of all things time related, especially those pesky missed punches. We’ll look at how to manage those missed punches and get your employees timesheets updated all in time for pay day.
Here's the Rundown:
An essential part of ensuring your employees are properly paid is making sure their timesheets are accurate and correctly filled out. Chaos can ensue over something as simple as a missed punch, but it doesn’t have to. In this edition of the report rundown, we’ll explore the following three reports that will help set your organization up for timesheet success when those missed punches occur:
- Missing Punches Report
- Timesheet Change Request Report
- Corrected Timesheets Report

Missing Punches Report
The missed punch – we’ve all been there. Whether it was a busy day, and your employees were rushing home, or they forgot to clock in/out for lunch, missed punches are a common occurrence. The Missing Punches report allows you to view any outstanding missing punches from any timeframe you select. See who might have missed a punch, the date they missed it on, as well as the Start and End times of their shift.
Identifying employees with missing punches before the pay period closes is crucial. This insight allows you to prompt those who need to submit a timesheet change request to ensure their timesheets are accurate. The Missing Punches report is also a widget that can be added to your dashboard for a quick view of who may be missing a punch. To gain access to this report navigate to Menu > My Reports > Time Reports> Time Allocation > Missing Punches.
Timesheet Change Requests
Based on your organization’s security permissions your employees can submit a change request for missed punches directly from their timesheet. Your employees can decide if they want to submit a change request to add or modify a punch in and out.
The Timesheet Change Request report shows all the change requests within a given time period. You can see what type of punch in an employee added and whether the change has been approved. To gain access to this report navigate to Menu > Time > Timesheets > Timesheet Change Requests.
Tip: Use the new Recommend Chart feature to gain more insight into how many requests have been approved.
Corrected Timesheets Report
The Corrected Timesheets report was introduced earlier this year in our February 2024 release. Originally a customer idea, this report gives you a single, central place to view all things related to corrected timesheets.
If your employee has a missing punch and successfully submitted a timesheet change request, you’ll be able to see the status of that change, the correction code and comment, who added the correction, and which pay period it was added to.
This report helps alleviate any additional stress you may have at the end of the pay period. Having this information housed in a central place, you can easily see which employees had missing punches and needed their timesheets corrected and if those corrections are going to properly reflect this pay period. To gain access to this report navigate to Menu > Time > Timesheets > Corrected Timesheets.
