Speaker Bio
Brian Coopman is an accomplished public sector leader with 20+ years of experience working with multiple government agencies. He served in the United States Marine Corps and spent 10 years with the City of Davenport (IA) in various roles, ultimately serving as the Operations and Capital Budget Manager. Brian has also spent 10+ years in the Government IT space, both domestically and internationally.
In his current role as Director of Contracts and Procurement at UKG, Brian leads multiple cross-functional teams through the intricacies of government purchasing and contracting, and fosters collaboration among government agencies to achieve economies of scale and cost savings.
In regard to procurement strategies, Brian leverages cooperative purchasing programs, state contracts, and value-added reseller and distributor channel partners, ensuring that every acquisition contributes substantial value to each government agency and its citizens. He also helps other government vendors to enhance their own procurement strategies and more efficiently provide their goods and services to government agencies.
Brian holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Saint Ambrose University. In addition, he holds a Certificate of Specialization in Leadership and Management from Harvard Business School.
As a former rugby player and USA Rugby Referee, Brian translates the rugby principles of teamwork, resiliency, sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, courage, and community engagement into his professional career.
