It’s certainly an exciting time for The Workforce Institute: Today, I’m thrilled to welcome Laurie Ruettimann and Joey V. Price to our board of advisors! Both are award-winning experts in HR and are sure to bring some great perspectives to our conversations this year.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably already quite familiar with Laurie’s and Joey’s work, but here’s a quick primer:
Laurie is an HR leader turned writer, speaker, and entrepreneur known for her common-sense style and straightforward approach to workforce issues. Her podcast, Punk Rock HR, is one of the fastest-growing management and business podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and Pandora (check out our podcast episode on “The Evolution of the Labor Movement” from this past September).
For more than 20 years, Laurie has been telling work-life stories and building solutions to drive better employment experiences, increase retention rates, and improve job satisfaction. CNN recognized her as one of the top five career advisors in the United States, and her work has been featured by NPR, The New Yorker, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and Vox. Laurie’s latest book, Betting On You: How to Put Yourself First and (Finally) Take Control of Your Career, published last year.
Joey is the founder and CEO of Jumpstart:HR, which offers HR outsourcing and consulting for startups and small businesses. He also co-hosts “While We Were Working,” a weekly podcast for workplace leaders who wish to be better at handling people issues, covering topics such as employee engagement, workplace culture, and HR law for the agile, modern workplace.
A seasoned HR professional with experience in multiple organizations, Joey advocates for businesses to translate their goals into high return on investment through happily engaged staff members. He is a SHRM Top 30 Under 30 awardee and was also named to Baltimore Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list.
You’ll be hearing more from both Laurie and Joey in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
On behalf of the entire board, and all our readers, I’d like to officially welcome Laurie and Joey to The Workforce Institute!
