Are you getting ready for HR Tech 2023? It’s the place to be for all HR technology news and trends, and a chance to see—and in some cases try—the latest innovations in workplace technology solutions that support workers and HR professionals like you.
I’ve had the good fortune of attending the past two HR Tech conferences, so I’m sharing a few tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this year’s show (October 10-13 in Las Vegas).
If you plan thoughtfully, you’ll walk away with actionable takeaways to help build strategies and find solutions to your complex workplace challenges—plus, you’ll have a lot of fun.
Six tips to maximize your experience at HR Tech 2023
Tip #1: Register for a pre-conference workshop.
If you’ve never attended a pre-conference workshop, make this year your first. The pre-conference workshops usually take place a day before the main conference and provide the opportunity for more focused learning. Each session is three hours long and emphasizes a specific topic.
The UKG team is partnering with Sapient Insights on “Building an Adaptable HR Systems Strategy.” You’ll leave the workshop with a blueprint for maximizing the systems you already have in place while guiding future investments.

Plus, the very popular Women in HR Technology half-day summit on Tuesday, October 10, will shine a light on how technology can help companies create more gender diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Tip #2: Attend a core session.
From people analytics and case studies to total rewards, there is no shortage of core sessions to attend at HR Tech 2023.
For insight into how emotional intelligence is key to leadership in the modern workplace, check out “Too Much, Too Fast, Too Fake: Emotional Intelligence in a Hyper-Charged World” from Dr. Jarik Conrad, VP Human Insights at UKG.
Dr. Conrad will explore why the quantity, speed, and inaccuracy of information we consume each day has made it difficult for us to navigate many of the challenges of modern life.

The world of technology changes quickly! So, even if it’s not from your vendor, it’s critical to stay on top of the latest trends in HR software.
We’re excited to launch the UKG Great Place To Work Hub that applies 30 years of data to bring your culture and DEI&B strategies into every facet of your people strategy. - How our research, your data, and your employees’ voices come together in world-class application.
- Where operational opportunities to build trust and belonging exist in organizational processes.
- How the UKG Pro Suite makes culture the common thread in every activity from workforce management to payroll to performance, career pathing, and manager coaching.

Tip #4: Schedule 1:1 meetings in advance.
If there are software solutions you want to see in action, in person, and the vendor will be at the conference, reach out to schedule a 1:1 session prior to the event. You’ll save time and better plan your days, which can get hectic! Come with an important list of questions to ask the teams about their HR solutions.

Tip #6: Oh, and wear comfortable shoes.
If you’ve attended a conference in Las Vegas, you know how much walking is involved to get from place to place. Comfortable shoes are a must! Plus, bring a sweater. Even though it might be hot outside, the conference rooms tend to be chilly.
One last tip: If you’re a coffee drinker, bring your own coffee cup that has a locking lid. This will make your life much easier as you navigate the conference landscape. You’ll thank me later! If you’re not a coffee drinker, grab a nice water bottle for your trip.
