Midwest City Boosts Great Workplace Culture and Unburdens Frontline Workers with AI-Powered UKG Ready Suite

UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, workforce management, and culture solutions for all people, today announced that the City of Noblesville, Indiana is successfully utilizing the AI-powered UKG Ready suite, an all-in-one HR, payroll, talent, and time solution for leaner HR teams, to manage complexity, track grant funding, and make life easier for its growing workforce.

Located north of Indianapolis, the City of Noblesville employs about 500 full-time, part-time, and temporary employees who serve approximately 75,000 residents. As a government municipality, the city's complex workforce spans multiple large departments that each have vastly different requirements, including police and fire; parks and recreation; planning and development; and utilities — with many working 24-hour shifts, in the field, or on-call schedules — so it’s critical that employees are not stuck behind a desk and can focus on the important work they do in the community.

The UKG Ready mobile app has had a positive impact raising compliance with otherwise mundane tasks,” said Holly Ramon, director of human resources for the City of Noblesville. “For example, employees throughout our city can easily clock in and out of shifts, view pay stubs, enroll in benefits, and view their current benefits from anywhere.”

A growing community, the City of Noblesville’s workforce has nearly doubled in the last seven years and continues to increase in tandem with the region’s expanding population. Through automation, UKG Ready organizes complex payrolls and public safety compensation rules to help pay people quickly and accurately, and the time saved processing payroll has enabled the city’s small HR and payroll team to keep pace with that growth.

“It’s reassuring to know that I can manage time, tax, pay, and reporting in a single, unified solution,” said Debbie Nulliner, payroll administrator for the City of Noblesville.

One of the ways UKG Ready helps manage complexity is through detailed, real-time, automated payroll cost allocation. Like many municipalities, the City of Noblesville receives a significant number of grants from multiple funding sources, including the federal government, requiring proper tracking of eligible labor costs on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance.

“We leverage reporting within Ready to track several grants such as Operation Pull-over, the primary seat belt enforcement program in Indiana, as well as programs that fund school resource officers and new firefighters,” said Jeff Spalding, CFO and controller for the City of Noblesville.

Another big win for the city — the consistent support it receives from UKG.

“The support from UKG has been consistently reliable,” said Nulliner. “Whenever we have a question or need help, we can always reach out to UKG and connect with someone who is helpful and assists in finding a solution to our needs.”

“Modern technology is essential for municipalities to be able to carry out their core mission of serving their communities, while maximizing how efficiently taxpayer dollars are spent on labor costs,” stated Chris Kiklas, vice president of SMB product management at UKG. “UKG Ready is a people-centered suite designed to transform the work experience for growing organizations and public sector entities by simplifying processes so that HR leaders and the myriad of public safety and services employees are better able to focus on what matters most — delivering peace of mind to residents.”
