Award-Winning HR Experts Laurie Ruettimann and Joey V. Price Join The Workforce Institute at UKG Board of Advisors

February 8, 2022 , LOWELL, Mass., and WESTON, Fla.

The Workforce Institute at UKG, a think tank that helps organizations drive performance by addressing HCM issues while providing an important voice for employees — including frontline and hourly workers — today announced that award-winning HR experts Laurie Ruettimann and Joey V. Price have joined the institute’s distinguished board of advisors.

Ruettimann is an HR leader turned writer, speaker, and entrepreneur known for her common-sense style and straightforward approach to workforce issues. Her podcast, Punk Rock HR, is one of the fastest-growing management and business podcasts on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and Pandora. For more than 20 years, Ruettimann has been telling work-life stories and building solutions to drive better employment experiences, increase retention rates, and improve job satisfaction. CNN recognized Ruettimann as one of the top five career advisors in the United States, and her work has been featured by NPR, The New Yorker, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and Vox. Her latest book, Betting On You: How to Put Yourself First and (Finally) Take Control of Your Career, published last year.

“While the pandemic has brought a tsunami of differences to the way work gets done, it’s actually a very exciting time for HR and working professionals alike,” said Ruettimann. “I’m excited to join The Workforce Institute at UKG to continue to ask critical questions and advocate for sustainable solutions that drive the future of work. We’ll offer actionable insights for making the most of this new reality — whether you’re on the frontlines, leading a department, or running an entire business.”

Price is the founder and CEO of Jumpstart:HR, which offers HR outsourcing and consulting for startups and small businesses. He also co-hosts “While We Were Working,” a weekly podcast for workplace leaders who wish to be better at handling people issues, covering topics such as employee engagement, workplace culture, and HR law for the agile, modern workplace. A seasoned HR professional with experience in multiple organizations, Price advocates for businesses to translate their goals into high return on investment through happily engaged staff members. In addition to The Workforce Institute, he also serves on the advisory board for the HR department at the Forbes School of Business and Technology at the University of Arizona and the Ethics in Artificial Intelligence Board at Arena Analytics in Baltimore, Maryland.

“Over the past two years, millions of workers have re-evaluated their job roles, career choices, and so many other aspects of their lives outside of work, leaving many employers scrambling to fill critical talent gaps while opening up new avenues across the workforce,” said Price. “We’re starting to see the long-term effects of the pandemic on businesses, and I can’t wait to dive into these dynamics with my new colleagues at The Workforce Institute at UKG while dissecting what it’ll all mean in the years ahead.”

“Adding both Laurie and Joey to The Workforce Institute advisory board is a huge win for our team and the working world at large,” said Chris Mullen, executive director of The Workforce Institute at UKG. “Each brings unique, diverse perspectives and experiences that will no doubt help HR professionals across industries navigate the continuing uncertainties businesses face on the heels of the Great Resignation. The ways in which many of us work and live have changed dramatically, and I can’t think of two better advisors to push new ideas that help companies of all sizes embrace the positive opportunities stemming from the widespread disruption we’ve experienced.”
